This ad lib "interview" is with a visiting team member from RI, who heard from Joe the prediction of the next-day winners. It is about 5:00, 10/3/03, and Joe has just finished helping to set up the XC course for the Invitational meet. It is 20 hrs before his race.

Oct 4, '03. At 1:00, Joe is at 1 and 1/4 mi.  A minute or 2 after this picture was taken he lay down in the grass, before 1 1/2 mi. Joseph's race had 100 runners behind him. Two more races ran, with 300 more runners. Joe's young body was found next to the trail at 3:00.

Joe had turned 14 just 4 weeks earlier, and had been in   high school for a month.  It was his second year in XC and he was looking forward to Track in the spring.
